Happy New Year … and here’s to hoping 2009 has a little more going for it than its predecessor. Yikes! Last year was a heck of a thing, really. For most of the last several months calicoDrifters dropped off the performing radar as though we crawled under a rock collectively to wait out the storm. And now, like bunker exiles who have run out of MREs and need to climb out of the hole for fresh supplies, we’re gearing up for lots of new stuff: House Concerts; a number of indoor and outdoor shows; and a CD release party. That’s right… we’re closer than ever to finishing up our new CD. It is tentatively entitled “Turning Home”. As we said in an earlier post, we purchased some new equipment in 2007 for the recording studio at our engine-engine Productions facility. It has improved the recording process considerably. It is much more fun now than it’s ever been. We are able to stretch out in ways we never were capable of doing with our old equipment; we can include guest artists much more easily than ever before; and we can incorporate on-the-fly remixes effortlessly and without the hassles we had with our previous recording projects.
